Post subject:  Server Move , Solar Guppy Site
You may have noticed the Site was offline Sunday. :shock: It was necessary to close the site to prevent new users and postings from getting lost. It takes about 2 days for all the internet users to see a domain change , so durring this time , the "old" site was put offline

For the Last two years I have "hosted" this site on a dedicated mini-itx computer out of my residence.

To offer better performance and relieve the my broadband connection of the traffic I have moved all the solar-guppy functions to a hosting company

The change should be seamless, but one never knows :-&

Web Server, email and this bbs are now on a hosting service.

This should provide a speedy and reliable service!

I've noticed the page loads are a little slower since the server change. Is this a temporary adjustment? :?

I've not been happy with the new hosting service. It was rated the best in the business , but maybe the ratings are a sham

I've opened no less than 6 trouble tickets with them about email and the php speed , which is what effects this BBS

If I don't get things fixed soon , it will require yet another move ... I'm sorry for the slow down ... hopefully it will get resolved

I tried two of the top rated hosting sites ... they both had issues so I'm back to hosting this myself :evil:

What a waste of time , setting up two sites , moving the database .. ect ect

Whats that saying :idea: if you want it done , you have to do it yourself ?

It makes you wonder who's putting out the ratings? I appreciate all the work you've put in to keep this site runing smoothly. It's a great source of information.

Looking back on this, I think what it going on here is people who are signed up to be "affiliates" are the ones making these little web-sites that make the claims to ratings...

The whole thing is a big sham.... Oh well, I rather keep my sites on PV products and there claims ... :D
