Post subject:  Xantrex STXR monitoring for Windows 7?

I'm upgrading the computer which monitors my STXR performance, and it looks like Fishbowl 1.3 has some sort of issue with Win 7. It runs, but grabs 98% of one of the CPU's resources (it's a dual core, so this doesn't lock up the PC entirely).

I tried some other compatibility modes (Win 98, Win 95) in Windows 7, but this causes issues with the virtual com port software I'm using to talk to the STXR (through a B&B Electronics RS-232 over Ethernet server, and yes it's isolated).

Is there a work-around this compatibility problem, or some other software (GT, etc.) which will talk with the STXR?

thanks,

john

Holly cow you have both a working STXR and Fishbowl ... must be the only one

I would suggest you use VMware and load XP into a virtual machine and run FishBowl in that, VMware work station is free I believe, I use it all the time to run older software

The problem is that I'm running the software on a Dell mini with the Atom processor, because the PC only draws 5 watts of power. I doubt it has the horsepower to run VMware....
