Post subject:  GT View problem

Greetings,

Tried to post this question on GT View section, but when I try to post, I get a message that comes back and says "Moderators can only post to this section" So, I thought that I would post my question here. I do realize that GT View is not longer supported.

I recently replace my two GT 3.3 inverters with new ones. I have been running GT View for a few years without any problems. Since I have replaced the inverters with new one. The GT View data files are getting named to something different.

The old data files were named like this:

For daily totals: GT View Inverter 1 Daily Total.xls
For daily data: GT View Inverter 1 Data Log 7-28-2008.xls

Since the inversters were changed out to new ones. I am getting something different for inverter # 1 files. The files are getting renamed to something a little different.

For daily totals: GT View Inverter 1 Daily Total.xls Daily Totals.xls
For daily data: GT View Inverter 1 Daily Total.xls Data Log 8-2-2008.xls

I have gone into the progrom to make sure that the name is correct and all looks fine.

Just wondering why the file is getting renamed to something different.

Inverter 2 data files seemed to be fine.

Thanks

Marshall

Hi Marshall,

Sorry for the posting issue, I've corrected the permssions for the forums and moved your question to the GT-View forum.

I beleieve a simple fix is to exit GT-View ( as closing it updates the .ini file )

edit the .ini file. Find the feild "location="
and remove the text "Daily Total.xls" which is probably the end of the path name. Save an restart GT-View

Hope this corrects your issue!

Yes, that fixed the issue! Thanks for the help.

I do not know how "Daily Total.xls" got appended to the end of the path name. I am sure that I probably did it by mistake when I was messing with the settings option and clicked on the path name.

Anyways, all is well now!

I see that you have a newer version of software, called SG View.
Should I upgrade the the newer software??

Thanks

Marshall

SG-View has a few bug fixes compared to GT-View, it also allowes custom background colors and about 15 diffferent skins.

I Keep SG-View up todate, no work has been done on GT-View in over 3 years

Both are free so pick what you like best

I have a page where you can see/compare GTview vs SGview
(some of the inverter links are stale)

Naw, too many trees in both our yard and 3 neighbors. I had an ideal site at my place, but wife didn't like the back yard. I was about to consider a solar thermal hot water system, and that would have made it nearly free to live in. The new owner has taken the fan off the the table for the GT, and it's regularly bumping 145F daily, and I think it's going off line, the Peak reading does not stay high, and comes back down to the 2000 watt range, not staying at 3600 where it should be this time of year. The daily power is still up at 24Kw/day, but that will taper off in the fall /winter to 12Kw
Our retirement place will be grid independent.

Well, when that time comes, the XW-6048 or two is the best choice, I really like the unit, very impressive what it can do
