Any system installed after 01/01/2009. RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCE DEVICE
EXEMPTION is the official name. What it does is allows a home owner to deduct the entire cost parts and labor, right off their Property Assessment. Way cool? The counties do not want you to know about this.

Have you noticed on the power companies web sites they help you reduce your electric bill with tips and links. I couldn't find a single link on the property appraisers site on how to reduce your property taxes. Funny, huh?

I filed mine on Friday 02/27. All I got was "We will have to send it downtown" from the local Property Appraisers office. They had never seen the form I signed and turned in for $65k off my appraisement.

You have documentation ( like a signed off building permit ) for 2009 install?

Nope. Permit is still active. I'm working on getting around the $10k of "Professional Engineering Wind Loading" on the home built tracker mounts. My plan is to use quick-connects from the trackers to disconnects with the trackers & bases sitting on four $700 1200lb load trailers. This until my college boy finishes up his Engineering Degree so I can get anything I need "Stamped, Signed & Sealed" to meet these stupid, unnessary codes by the building department. (There is no need to start a flame-thread on building codes and "WHY" there are there, I am fully aware of the reasons but for one I don't plan on leaving 12 PV panels per tracker hanging out in 120mph winds during a Hurricane. Besides, the massive amount of steel & concrete needed for this would far exceed ANY additional power produced and would move the system "Payback" to 50 years plus...)

They have withstood 50mph gusts during fronts moving through and during summer thunderstorms.

My 1000 sq ft steel building is still under "Permit" and when I asked the Property Appraiser how they could put it on my 2008 taxes for $19,500 I was told they drove by and it "Looked mostly completed" so it was put on my tax bill. So my response will be if they try and toss up "The Permit is still active and we can't do it..." I'll toss that last statement back at them...

Looks like the property tax exemption for systems installed in 2009 is in limbo.
