The frequency of data logging does not seem to match my setting in SG-View. If I set 90 sec, it logs every 6 minutes. If I set 60 sec, it seems to log every 4 min. I am trying 15 sec today to see what happens with that setting. The computer is a Pentium II laptop running W98, otherwise everything seems to be right on.

Is there something I can try besides the settings screen? Thanks.

With a slow laptop, make sure you have "fast pc mode" unselected

Does the program seem to be updating the screen values every second? , if not that would indicate possible comm errors

I have the fast pc mode option deselected.

Today with the logging set to 15 sec (actually, it adjusted to 16 sec for some reason) the logging was just about 60 sec real time which is fine for me.

It may be that I am pushing the bottom end of the envelope with my old laptop and OS.

The comms seem to be OK, I think the default setting was 4 sec, and it seems to be doing right at that level. So the only glitch is the logging timing, which seems to multiply the setting by a factor of 4. But it is working good enough for my needs with the current hardware now that I have a workaround.

Thanks,

Found a bug ... if one was running with Fast PC Mode enabled and then turned if off, the logs would would update 1/4 the proper update rate .. beta version 6 has this corrected

Also, added back the system mode option  , not sure how that got missed in the skins upgrade

I'll get it running tonight and see what happens tomorrow. Thanks!

5/4/08 Edit:

I updated to the new SG-View version 6; now the log file is exactly on track even with my old W98 laptop.

A side note, since this is an executable file that (I thought) comprised the entire program, I just placed the .exe file on my desktop and ran the program from there. I didn't notice that a ini file is created when the program launches, so when I first ran v6 I had a few display issues. Once I noticed the ini file, I deleted it an restarted v6 which made a new ini, this got everything working correctly. In retrospect, I should have made a folder for SG-View, then it would have been obvious there was a second file that is created.

Thanks again, Solar Guppy.
