Post subject: Xantrex: AC Voltage Fault
PostPosted: Sun Feb 20, 2005 6:43 pm GMT EthGMT
I recently had a Xantrex GT 3.0 inverter installed. After connecting my RS-232 cable the inverter now displays 'AC Voltage Fault', 'Inverter Off-line'. I checked all the connections and they look ok. The company I purchased it from and Xantrex's tech support are not available until Tuesday. Any suggestions? :?

Are you getting status from GT-View ?

On the unit , "knock" on the LCD window and see what is shown for VAC

Is the message displayed with only the RS-232 connected ?

Here is the current read out from GT-View, which seems to be working. Knocking on the unit gives 'Inverter Off-line' & 'AC Voltage Fault'.

If I put the URL in a browser , I can see part of the picture ...

Well , it showes you have no AC into the unit (no VAC or HZ) ... check your disconnect , ac breaker at the sub-panel and/or the wiring in the unit

When you hooked up your Comm , did you turn of the breakers ?

If you have a DVM , measure at the input to the GT and work backwards to find why there is no AC

The GT 3.0 had to be replaced. We got some lightning strikes a week or so ago, kind of unusual for California. This might have caused a surge in the AC coming in. The new unit is running great now.

The only failure I ever had was on one of my Sunties, it also was from a lightning strike ... fried the CPU card. I didn't have to send it in though , as it happened while I was doing the redesign and replaced the toasted CPU card

Glad all is well with your unit ... is GT-View working well for you ?

I did run GT-View program yesterday and produced 6.6 AC Wh with mostly cloudy skies. With rain today I only produced 1.9 AC Wh.

Do you know if the GT 3.0 stores data on how many Kilowatt hours were produced every day? Or can I only get the total produced since in service? It would be nice if I could download multiple days worth of daily totals to graph at the end of the year. It looks like I can only average totals If I don't run GT-View every day? Is there more to GT-View that I didn't see in the help file?

The only data the GT3.0 stores is the Lifetime kWhr total , if you want to know what is produced each day , you would need to run GT-View. If you leave your PC running , GT-View will make both daily logs and a daily summary file , which is what your looking for.
