Post subject:  Xantrex: GT RS232 Commands - Access Basic, Advanced, OEM ?

Hi Gang,

The list of GT commands is at http://www.xantrex.com/web/id/1626/docserve.aspx and this is very useful in understanding and optimizing the operation of our GT-2.5 inverter.

There are 3 levels of commands:
- Basic Level (all the useful queries, and a few minor settings)
- Advanced Level (about a dozen commands, including processor reset)
- OEM Level (about 40 commands, including fan speeds & )

Using a terminal program, it's easy to query the GT Inverter and get information, set the LCD contrast, etc. This is the Basic level.

We need to be able to disable the MPPT algorithm (because it's misbehaving under some conditions, as well as to better quantify the behaviour of the solar panel strings). To do so, you need access to the "Advanced Level" command set. It should be possible to issue the command, ACCESS ADV and change to this mode. But after issuing the command ACCESS ADV followed by the inquiry, ACCESS?, the inverter responds, ACCESS BASIC (not access=advanced)!

Grrrr...

According to the documentation, it looks like there is no password required for access to Advanced Level. There is a password required for OEM Level.

Any suggestions on how to change to either Advanced Mode or OEM Mode? Does anyone know the password for OEM mode?

Thanks, and sunny skies to all!
- Cliff

Advanced and OEM is password protected

There are no commands that would put the unit into a fixed voltage or power level, regardless of the commands listed. Turning of Mppt, turns off power generation

This link seems to be dead now. Does anybody know where I could find this document, or an updated version that pertains to the XW6048?
