Solar-Guppy, There seems to be similarity between the Xantrex GT and XW, from what I know the biggest difference is the RS232 (GT) vs RJ45 (XW). I see that SGView correctly works with the GT series inverters. What is the possibility of a version of GT/SG/etc software working with the Xantrex XW inverter? I have also researched that Xanbus is basically Canbus with an RJ45 connector rather than serial port. I also found RJ45 Canbus hardware interfaces that are available from a number of sources. Rather than the RJ45 Canbus interface I can probably break out the cable connection and convert to RS232 - any idea what the pinouts would be to match up? thanks, Dan Lenox |

Not even remotely the same busses or protocalls, completely different XW is Canbus electrically, protocall is specific to Xantrex, hence why its called Xanbus. I have no plans on making a program to talk to Xanbus devices. I thought Xantrex had setup the protocal and register maps so 3rd party developers could write applications, but there is NO market for anyone but xantrex to do this, the volume is way to low an 100 bucks for canbus to usb converters is going to kill anyones idea on hooking up a pc If you want to work on it, post over on the Xantrex fourm and maybe you will get some pointers from Xantrex staff |
