I'm about to plunge into a solar project for my garage. And on that point, I was wondering if anyone has seen the 120w Astropower laminates they adv. for $238 each? And if so what do you think of them.

I have been talking with a guy in Miami who has 6 Hawker 3500Ah 48v batteries he is trying to give away. I live in Texas and was thinking of driving down to Miami and getting a couple and though I would grab some of the laminates while I was there. But it's a long way to get disappointed so I was hoping someone could provide some first had info.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Glenn,

No, I haven't seen the Astropower laminates. I did install the BP laminates I bought in Nov 2003 and can say that you will need to have a support structure for the panel.

I used the same clips I used on my framed photo-watts with out any frame, and it is not stiff enough. I intend to go back a put aluminum 2"x2" used for screen enclosure structures as a rail to stiffen it up

With Sun Electric you better pre-pay, or get in writing they will hold the panels , but what ever they have will produce power they sell them as.

Texas to Miami is a long trip and a lot of fue :? l … it would be much cheaper to ship the panels, something to consider

Henry

Thanks for the tips.

Yeah it is a long way, and I did consider shipping, but the batteries I'm guessing are 1800lbs each and those are hard to get shipped. I can't find anyone who wants to do it for less than $1600. I just figured I'd grab the laminates while I'm at it. Both are in Miami.

Thanks again,

Glenn
