-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello My work has recently purchased an internal resistance ( IR ) Snap-on Electronic Battery Tester- Model YA2612 & I am after more information other than whats in the user manual.( which is not much ) It works well on small (motor bike) & large (8D) automotive batteries as it doesn't need the batt. to be fully charged. It doesn't do a load test as such. It gives a % reading of the CCA reading which states in the manual above 80% OK 70 - 80% marginal, below 70% fail. Batteries that have shown 65% have really been crook in the diesel game. Manual says 50 to 1400 CCA batteries. Do all flooded cells have the same internal resistance engineering wise when they are new ? Maybe a battery manufacturer may know. It it suitable for calcium/calcium wet cell batteries because it gives an unusually high % reading? Is it suitable for AGM batteries ( Absorbed Glass Mat)? Is it suitable for Gel Batteries? Is it suitable for large deep cycle solar flooded cell wet batteries eg. 1200 Amp/Hour -12volt solar battery banks which may consist of 6 x 2.1 volt single cells connected in series ( 12.6v) Are these testers just an ohms meter that can test a powered up circuit? ( no internal batteries in meter) I would be grateful if you could find more information off the manufacturing engineers or anyone who has used an internal resistance tester in the solar industry.
