Hi all i live off grid and currently have a consul gas fridge. I have seen a few of the energy efficient conserv 120 volt fridges. My question is what does everyone use is it worth the extra for the conserv or just buy a good efficient 120 volt fridge from sears? i want to get away from the propane and power it from the sun less reocuring bills. thanks for the input.

Our Whirlpool ET5WSEKO is the lowest power rated fridge of the standard manufacturers. It's 15cuft rating. I monitored it for a while and it was using about 1.1 to 1.2 kWh per day. Just about where it was rated. We only keep our house aobut 68 F, but we open the fridge a lot.

I think that a Sunfrost RF 16 is supposed to run about 1/2 that. I've also heard that Equator is coming out with a new efficient fridge.

a tad bit less than 2kwh/day (abt $1,200 w discount)
the yellow tag of estimated yearly power useage is actually close to reality.
2 adults, 2 kids (teens), icemaker, crushed and cubed and chilled water dispenser
("don't stand in the door with it open, decide what you want first and get it")
I could probably shave 10% off the useage with agressive "shut the door"

I went to the lowest usage Whirlpool that I could find. I paid about $650. It uses a little under a KWh per day but I can't tell you for sure exaxtly since the microwave, blender and toaster oven were on the same circuit when I measured it. I was trying to see how much the whole kitchen used per month, not including lights, and it was 34 KWh for 30 days.

Our Kenmore 25 cu ft bottom freezer is an Energy Star model. It has two doors on top for the fridge part. Uses 1.5Kw per day.
