Hello, Everyone! In my newest book, Power With Nature (PixyJack Press,April 2003)I want to offer readers a bit more than the usual fare of what photovoltaics is, what the components are, and how they all go together. Specifically, I would like to know: 1)How a sinewave inverter takes low voltage DC and turns it into clean 120 volts AC.If you (Chistopher?) can explain it to an educated, but non-technical, audience in around 300 - 500 words, I would like very much to publish the reply verbatim. (giving due credit, of course!) 2)Also, I would like to hear a discussion about power point tracking. I've learned firsthand how well it works since installing a new MX60 controller, but I'm still in the dark about how the technology works. Again, same readers. Thanks! Rex, I'll mention this to Christopher. He is up to his eyeballs at the moment so don't expect anything real soon. We used to have something on the Trace website in the Tech briefs. It may still be there? Robin |

Robin - Thanks for passing the word along. The book is going out for technical review at the end of the week, and we probably won't get it to the printer until mid-march. So there's still some time. The explanations do not have to be verbatim, of course. If you or anyone else in the "Heavy Metal" Team would have time to offer a short discussion on each topic, I can paraphrase, embellish and all that stuff, so long as I understand what I'm reading! Rex : Keep in mind that there are inverters (like SMA's Sunny Boy) that take high voltage DC instead of low. I believe the inverting technology mechanics are basically the same. |
