Question:

I am planning to upgrade to an Outback Flex 500 system starting with a one GVFX-3648, Mate2, Hub, MX-60 and a 10K-48v battery bank connected to a 2500w array.

My question is: if I connect a 5K diesel generator to the system will the generator be able to sell excess power to the grid once the battery bank has been full charged?

i can't comment on the ability of it to sell the generator power or not, but if it turns out that it can, why would you? the cost of diesel fuel is so much higher than what any utility would pay you for the power it would produce.

The other problem is you cant hook a standard generator up to a outback grid tied inverter the generator power is to dirty the outback wont except it. Now if you had a Xantrex XW series i suspsect you could do this as they have 2 ac inputs and one is made for generators.
