That is: keep batteries charged for potential backup use, tie to the grid to sell back during the day and still operate if grid-power goes down?

I'm trying to learn about the various options out there and am pretty confused right now about what's available.

thanks

Xantrex (aka Trace) SW Series supposedly does all this (after you add a $500 "Grid Tie Interface"), Outback Power looks like they are on the way to being able to do this with their FX2000 inverter (once they have their grid tie UL approved) and you can also check out the RE4500 at the Vanner web site.

FWIW, I have heard Vanner is a lot more expensive, but I do not have any details or personal experience... maybe Solar Guppy can get a Vanner presence and product area on this board too???

Last time that I talked to Vanner, they were seriously thinking of not staying in the grid-tie market.
