i have a 12ft above ground swimming pool and i am heating it with a 20 Evacuated Solar Collector Tube collector panel witch is very good heats to 32dg.
i have a 55 watt filter pump which flows through the solar panel, it works very well,
what im after is a pv panel to power the pump !! could i go for a 80 / 100 watt pv and how do i regulate the watts to the pump as i don't want to supply to much power to it !!!

You did not say what the voltage of the pump is?

120 volts at 55 watts is .46 amps
24 volts at 55 watts is 2.29 amps
12 volts at 55 watts is 4.59 amps

If it is a 120 volt AC pump you will need more than if it is a DC pump. And is the pump going to be running at night?
