I am getting a xantrex GT series inverter , says in pamphlet that you can conect it to PC but when i rung enerdrive they said only by seriel cable and not useing the rj45 cableing ,, ok i know ppl have this already as my friend told me about this site ,, so how do i do it ,, i already downloaded program its wireing that i need from inverter to pc

RS232 cable is what you need and a serial port on the PC or a USB to serial port adapter on the PC

grt ty , now all i need is to find a 30 ft rs232 cable ,lol ,, or some nice person showing me what pins (2-3-5) are on plug and i will wire up my own cable useing cat 5
and i know its a doozey as one end differs from other right ? lmao

You could also get a RJ45 to Serial port adapter plug that you wire specifically for the Xantrex Inverter and a PC. You have to set the pins in a specific configuration. A little tricky but do-able. I have two Gt 4.0 Inverters wired to a dedicated Windows PC with about 50 ft of RJ45 cable with adapters at each end, running two SGT View programs for monitoring.
