This is a 7.8kw DC, 6.5kw AC Solar PV System. GT-View read out of both strings, 22 panels on the Side facing South and 24 panels on the Back facing East, located in San Diego, California. Refresh the screen to see it update.

So I guess you will see some impressive numbers with those arrays. Do you expect to be selling KW even in the winter ? With day length's now, (mid spring) I'm about at break even, and will soon be un-winding my meter from this last winter.

Called my PV Designer to see whats up with the Max on the GT3.8 because I have seen it hit 4010 before and the GTView said in red it was at its max. I might have to go with a GT4.0 so it doesn't start to Derate itself on me.

Update: Got a call from my PV Designer, he was alot of fun to chat with, basically the system seems to be just right, if the system was holding 3.8+ for longer periods of time then an upgrade would have to go in but if its everyonce in a while then that fine as the GT3.8 are built to handle 4.0 anyways. Today was a nice cool day and with very few clouds.

I believe so. 4.0 Sun is only getting higher, and will be running more watts till June 21, when it starts back to the south. Short peaks for 30 seconds or so, are not a problem, it's the sustained run time that will limit or shut down the GT.
Guppy - do they limit, or shut off till cooler ?

PS - switch to the small display, so it fits the screen width with out having to scroll the posts here left & right.

PPS
What's the STC wattage on each array?

I think you have one GTView in SYSTEM setting, joining the totals. Guppy can explain how to set that.

My back yard panels are facing East, I had posted West until I broke out the compass. At 6pm is when I lose sight of the sun on the rear "East" panels as the sun dips right over the top ridge of the roof.

So far my Run times has been averaging 12 hours, are you guys getting more Run Time? Trying to find out if there is more Sun light on the West Side then the East side?

My array is flat on the west facing slope of my roof. It wakes up the GT about an hour after sunrise, and then just from ambient light, only puts out couple hundred watts till mid-AM, when the sun finally lights the panels. In the microclimate in my area, we often have foggy AM's and usually, clear sunsets. I went with west facing panels in my case, and good production often continues right till sunset. Helps that there is no shade on my 2nd story roof, except for a palm tree, half way down the block, that gets me a 3pm in December.
