Hello,

Xcel finally installed my meter today.

And I am looking for information if any is available on how you can monitor it. It appears that there is an IR port on the meter, but I have not been lucky enough to find out any details.

Based on the meter type, it also appears to have the one-way RF module installed for remote reading.

I was able to determine that at one time, Itron had the technical guide available.

Here's what I know about the meter:
CL200 240v 3w Type C1SR 30TA 1.0kW
Catalog # 0130539

Any insight would be great.

Thanks!

I am not sure that that is the mfg. model number... For example, my meter is a GE kv2cs full electronic meter with IR port.

Many meters will emmit a "IR Blink" every time the "dial" spins one rotation... And you can setup a counter on that...

However, as far as I know, with solar pv that turns the dial backwards at times, you cannot tell the direction of rotation---so you are out of luck there with Net Metering (if you have two meters, one for normal power, and the other for generated power--you could monitor both).

The best discussion I have seen is this thread on the Xantrex forum:

http://www.xantrex.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=229

Can be done (reading the meter using the IR port tool and homemade software)--but it requires the cooperation of the power company--which may or may not happen (or they may reverse themselves too).
