Hi can anybody help The yellow connecting cable between a C40 charge controller and the remote meter display is it a Xantrex only part or are the plug wire compatible with telephone or ethernet type cables. The problem is Ive bought a C remote meter without the connecting cable, I assumed it was complete with the new unit but it wasnt *ebay buyer beware*

I just looked at a cable, it flips the connections end to end

1 -> 6
2 -> 5
3 -> 4
4 -> 3
5 -> 2
6 -> 1

Take a 6 conductor phone wire ( flat ) and crimp the RJ11 on both ends so connectors are facing opposite and you should get the above interconnection.

SG thankyou....Ive searched UK ebay and the only 6 way RJ plug I can find is a RJ12 not RJ11 is this correct, just have too find some flat 6 wire telephone cable buy a crimper! Should be able to do for about $30 as the meter was only $18 should be good to go.

The photographs were a nice touch, thanks again,

Nigel Sunny Spain,

Well here in the states, Home Depot sells the 6 wire RJ11's for about 10 ucks for 25 and also the cripper, think about 35 for a good quality one. I have the cripper as it does RJ11 and RJ45 and I make my own cables for just about everything. The price of the parts tools usally is equal to a store bough cable and after the first the rest are near free ... either that or I just like having ALL the tools :D
