I have a 1/3 HP 115 Volt 60Hz 3.5Amp sump pump, it runs for about 1 minute every 5 on an average day. I want to have about 2-3 days sustainable power reserve

As my chage kit, 54 Watt kit with 4A charger and I have a Motomaster Eliminator 400W Power Invertor.

Basically I'm looking for validation that this will all work, is it excessive or underpowered? I'm tip-toeing in and want to have a solid success this first try If location is an issue I'm near Barrie, Ontario Canada.

Let's assume the motor will average that spec each run cycle.

12 min each hour ? Thats about 5 hours ON in 24

120V x 3.5A = 420 watts

420 x 5h = 2100 Watt hours needed every 24 hrs.

Average big box store deep cycle battery: 100AH capacity, 50% would be 50AH @12V = 600 Wh usable (that will run 2.5 hours till the battery is at emergency shutdown.

You need a lot of charging, and 6 batteries. It gets a little better if you run a 24V inverter system.

Also a concern is a motor pulls about 10X that amps for startup, so your inverter would need about a 30 amp surge rating ( 3000 watts )

I'm sorry to say its doubtful your 400 watt inverter would be upto the task. You also have more losses as that inverter is mod-sine and will have the motor pull about 20% more amps running that true-sine grid power

You should rethink the sump-pump and look into a boat bildge pump and running you solar at 12VDC ( no inverters )

You can buy 12v sump kits that run off a car battery. Why not just get one of those and connect your panels and charge controller directly? If you need more battery capacity then add more batteries in series.

Series give you more VOLTS. Parallel gives more amp hour capacity.
With more capacity, it will take more power to recharge the
battery. (a larger panel).
