what do I use to connect my panels to the junction box or wherever they connect? Can you buy wires with the pigtail connectors on one end and bare wire on the other? My first panels had a wiring box on the back with screws.

I'm not sure I know what you mean by "pigtail" connectors? If you mean the plastic MC connectors that most modern panels use, one easy way to connect to them is to buy a male/female MC jumper cable and cut it in half which gives you both polarities of connectors with an attached chunk of wire. MC connectors beat the stuffing out of screw terminals in junction boxes when you have to make connections up on the roof...

Anyone know where to buy MC Connectors or cables with MC Connectors on them?

Are these MC Connectors available from electrical suppliers? (my local electical supplier wants a manufacturer's catalog number ... and I don't know it!)

Cliff, I ended up getting mine from a supplier in BC since I am in Canada. Find a dealer/supplier in your area and order one cable twice as long as you need. It has a male on one end and a female on the other. Just cut it in half.

if the box doesn't have mc connectors on them then you have a straight up electrical box that can be hardwired using wirenuts(connical plastic connectors with small metal spring like inner pieces electricians use for housewiring) if that's the case use the wirenuts and not mc connectors as the mc connectors are overpriced and over emphasized that pv module manufacturers are pushing these days, imo. if you have mc connectors you have to stay with them as it is part of the warranty. cut the connectors off and void your 25yr warranty.

I would recommend soldering over wire nuts. The soldered connection will be more reliable than the wire nuts over the 30 year life of the system. Soldering is approved by the NEC code as a method of splicing wires.
