Yes , I sold FishBowl to Xantrex and they will Market it for the new Suntie XR/GP users

It will require the use of an opto-isolator , which my understanding will be part of the package xantrex will sell to end-users

I really excited to see it now shipping , it's easy to blow my own horn but I am really looking forward to hearing back from users for their impressions

Thanks for the positive comments

Henry

Ok, I'll toot it a bit for you. Having used FishBowl for a while, I can say that it is pretty slick. Forget about needing to look at the inverter display or remote monitor, FishBowl does all of that and more. I highly recommend it.

Henry,
Can you post any screenshots for people to drool over or is Xantrex only allowed to do that now that they bought it?

I read the recently made available threads (Xantrex Beta Testers, now available to everyone to read) on the new STXR. Very cool, very impressive. Congratulations!

Is the fishbowl software (maybe hardware as well) package going to be made available?

It's great to hear that FishBowl is going to be an official product.

Does it support multiple units?

It looks like I will have some STXR GPs soon. My 3 STXRs died apparently from a surge after lightning took out a couple of transformers 1/3 of a mile away from my place.

The version Xantrex has (1.2) is for a single inverter per PC. The comm library used doesn't support multithreading which would be required for having more than one copy of fishbowl running on the same PC to monitor the additional inverters.

Fishbowl would itself have to have this option added

Any idea when Fishbowl will be shipping? It seems like a really useful product. I didn't see it on the Xantrex website yet.

They are behind in making a package to sell ... they need to bundle it with an opto-isolator , they already have the user installer/software , it's just there time to package all up ... hopefully within a few weeks

Hi Henry,

Will Fishbowl work with all of the ST units or just the new upgrade units?

Thanks

Ron

Ron,

As you now know , Fishbowl will work with the older ST or ST/XR but you will only get partial information. The ST ST/XR does not have the ability to measure DC amps and those values reported by Fishbowl will be incorrect.

On another note , I have two copies of Fishbowl running on a single PC without issue. The only thing necessary is to make a second copy of the actual program and put it in a separate folder. This is so each running copy has it's own .ini file. Also , when logging data , make sure you tell Fishbowl unique location for the data logs

Hi Henry,

And probably best to only run one at a time until you select the unique log locations AND unique serial ports.
