Post subject: Small Grid Tie - design phase
PostPosted: Mon May 17, 2004 8:45 am GMT EthGMT
Greetings all,

I've narrowed down the component options for a small grid tie system for my urban back yard. Background can be found at: http://www.freedomrat.com/Solar/Solar.htm

I think the limitations on my sizing will be more physical dimension of a pole mount, and less on dollars. I live in a residential area and need to speak with zoning to determine any rules they have, as well as consider site impact to neighbors. I'm going to assume that the max physical size of the array area will be about 12' X 12' on a pole mount (although I think 10'x10' is more ideal). So either a 2X3 or 2X4 panel configuration.

So, here is what I'm considering:
Panels - 6 or 8 kyocera kc167g or sharp 185w- need to get the most out of limited space.
Inverter Sunnyboy 1800 or Xantrex Suntie ST1000

Thoughts :?:

Look at the Sanyo HIT panels , they now have 190 watt ones , same size as the 165 and 180 watt ones

These are the most powerful commerical panels on a per sf basis ... seem like nice panels are a good match for a limited space like yours

There is no Suntie 1000 anymore , I beleive the only units begin produced are the 1500/2500 ... but if you look around I have seen prices in the 1100 dollar range for the Suntie 2500

Do you know of a source for the Sanyo 190 panels?
