Morning Update:

I went through both inverters with new fuses, trying each panel input. One of the inverters is back up and running, so you were right it was the fuses.

The other inverter is still completely dead - nothing on the display, no led lights - there is power coming into the combiner box in the inverter (and coming out) as well as ac on both sides of the breaker.

You are correct on my panel set-up. My remote combiner boxes are fully breakered (I have never had one trip yet). So I can just hook=up to the bypass terminals bypass the fuses in the inverter - is there any risk involved in doing this or will the breakers protect everything??

I was wondering if the inverter could be damaged if all of combiner fuses blew, effectively switching OFF the DC while the AC is switched ON. The reason that I was wondering, is becuase the instructions on the inverter unit tells one to first switch ON the DC circuit breakers and only then switch ON the AC breaker -- or "damage may occur." One could conclude that if AC is the last to be switched ON, it must be the first to be switched OFF, or damage could occur. In the case of the triple PV circuits overloading the fuses, the blowing of the last fuse would cause the DC to be switched OFF while the AC is switched ON.

The warning is meaningless ...

It was there to help protect the secondard storage caps from going over 400 volts DC , which is what can happen if AC is killed before DC

One of my changes was to change the caps to 450 volt rated ones ... so it is no longer an issue
