Sounds interesting. I think you'll find that changing the temperature of water is much easier. It is applicable over a much more useful temperature range and is certainly much safer and cheaper. Remember that the higher the temperature the harder the heat is to store.
This is not exactly the same situation because the lead wasn't melted, but an engineer at our company calculated the specific heat of lead acid batteries and found that even the great mass of lead could be discounted completely as the specific heat of the electrolyte was about two orders of magnitude greater.
