I did get all of the strands in.
I just saw last night that the Trace DC Disconnect panel documentation says exactly what you are saying, about 2/0 with 175 amp breaker.
The inverter manual recommended 4/0 if over 5 feet -- and mine is just over 5 feet.
I probably would have been fine with 2/0, but I have it all set up now.
