Is there a recommended distance between 2 sets of pole mounted arrays?
Proposed location allows panels to be in line facing south with no restrictions...I'm considering about 12"-18" space between panel edges.
I don't think there will be an early morning shading issue, but looking for other opinions on this.

Consider space needed if you need to re-aim to SSW or SSE, that they are far enough apart to pivot if you need to adjust.

If both arrays are due south, that would be OK, it would be the same as being roof or ground mounted

If you ever intented to have tracking, then you need some distance between the arrays. As a general rule, the distance between the trackers should be 4X the height of the array to have early morning/evening shading at a minimum

No tracking will be installed.
Panels shall face due south with no problem.
The house roof line slopes the opposite way, so roof mounting was not feasible.

One of the things I wondered about was if a space for the wind to pass thru made any real difference, assuming the pole mounts are quite secure.

Wind load is the same regardless

Make Sure the pole mount are as far as possbile from the house or you can get shading in the winter months with the lower sun angles .. I made this assumption based on your comment on the roof being opposite the pole angles
