Is there any real restriction on the maximum distance between the PV array and the inverter?

In my case, I foresee the inverters being placed inside the house, approximately 30 feet from the nearest PV panel. Does that sound reasonable?

(I expect that, by using a thicker-gauge cable, that I can do this without a problem, but do not know yet for sure.)

We suggest mounting the inverter close to teh array to minimize the chance of lightning damage. I think 30 feet is no problem for the dc side run.

For cases where the DC run to the SB extend greater than 30', can a lightning arrestor close to the panel array string be employed ? This way Rodolfo & others can deploy the SB far from the panels but close to the main service panel.
