PostPosted: Mon May 05, 2003 9:19 am GMT EthGMT
We're having trouble getting our SB 1800 to stay on line as it ramps up toward maximum output on a sunny day. It's connected to the house service through about 100 feet of 12AWG cable. The array is 12 Evergreen EC-110 panels, about 1300 watts of PV. The inverter works fine in the morning and near the end of the day but seems to shut off with an error message of Vac-BFR. Can anyone tell from this what might be wrong?
Any help would be appreciated.
Also what does BFR stand for?

Dave,

I also responded on the deja-news on this for you.

You need larger wire size , as the SB1800 drives into the grid , the voltage is rising with the 12 awg wire and tripping the UL1741 over-voltage.

The SB1800 is a 120 volt inverter and actually needs LARGER wire than the SB2500 since there is more current going into the grid !!

I would recommend a minimum of 8 AWG wire

Henry
