One day we took the cover off my SB 2500U and found water inside, approximately 1/16th to 1/8th of an inch deep. It's mounted in the (dry) garage, higher than the AC and DC-disconnect, so the only way for moisture to get in is through condensation. I sealed the conduits with silicone rubber, but a couple of weeks later when I opened it again, I discovered beads of moisture on the inside cover. No more puddles, but the gasket was wet.
Has anybody experienced this problem? I'm curious to know what you did to rectify the situation.
I'm toying with the idea of installing a 2-inch DC fan outside the middle punch out hole at the bottom of the inverter. Any thoughts abut this? I'm in the San Francisco Bay Area, about 200 feet from the water, and humidity gets up there on foggy days.
By the way, I have a 12 Volt DC fan salvaged from a junk PC cooling the heat sink during daytime hours. It's powered by an old 9V adapter on a timer. It does a good job.
