Last call to register for ST2500 upgrades.

The last date for registering for the upgrade is February 28.

According to the Xantrex website, SunTie upgrades will begin shipping during the week of February 24, and will continue through April.

This effectively means that nobody who registers for the update will have the benefit of any experience from anyone who actually tries it. We've all followed Henry's campaign to fix the SunTie, and I for one expect great things. It just seems reasonable that those who haven't followed the developments as closely should be able to hear from others about how effective the upgrade is. Some hard-ass manager still believes that customers should receive the minimum value possible, even when a fix is at hand. Xantrex should be advocating the upgrade; instead they are limiting it to the most informed and aggressive customers.

I talked with Xantrex and they have agreed to extend the registration time till March 31st , which their website now reflects as the cut off for the free ST/XR upgrade program.

Has anyone received an RMA or replacement yet? I would think folks that visit here would have been some of the first to register.

They are shipping. My installer has received their first set of units. The units are for customers with dead inverters.

[3/11 -- my units arrived, I also have dead inverters right now, waiting for installation]

Sounds like the upgrades are working good, great news!

Does anyone know for certain if any/all units in distribution/dealerships have been (or will be) upgraded prior to sale or installation?

It would seem to be best if Xantrex put out some communication to everyone that prior versions must be upgraded... I assume something like this happened but have not seen anything saying it actually did.

Now that Tobin is not a Xantrex employee, is there anyone with the company to speak to this?

Thanks!

All the inventory was recalled ... this was a dealer level thing a few months ago. Any new purchases would be the new XR/GP ..

I beleive all the current production resources are working on the upgrade program , There wont be new ones for a few weeks unless your dealer has in with the sales and marketing folks at Xantrex.

I know some folks tried to buy a XR in November and no one had one to sell

Just in case anybody in the upgrade program missed this, Xantrex is offering 2 cool upgrade options. Here is a quote from their FAQ page:

Two Offers For Upgrade Registrants

1) Xantrex is offering a SunTie XR Remote Meter (part # STRM) to all registered users for $89. This is a $90 saving from the STRM list price of $179. The STRM offers the convenience of watching your SunTie XR's power production from the comfort of your home. The STRM comes with an easy to install 50 foot communication cable.

2) For 1000 or 1500 watt SunTie or SunTie XR owners. Upgrade to a STXR 2500 for only $229. This will allow a system owner to expand their PV system. The list price difference between a STXR 1500 and 2500 is $520.

How To Order
When a Xantrex customer service representative calls to grant an RMA and arrange shipping for your upgrade, simply tell them you would like to take advantage of one these offers. They will collect payment and arrange shipping.
