I thought about tracking. I read a bit around the web and actually was on a site that has some pretty neat DIY controllers, etc. I did cap and stow a 2" feedthru exiting the slab right where it would need to be if I change my mind. My primary reasons for not going with it were 1) moving parts = increased maint. 2) It looked like a pretty steep learning curve for someone with no PV experience, and 3) Where I live we are not allowed to have fences. I had 3 brothers growing up and there are a few kids around. To us that would be more of an attractive nuisance than a swimming pool. So I didn't go that way. I still might though. If I understand the MX-60 properly, I can have two strings coming in so maybe I'll put the next four panels on a tracker. Then I can already have had some real world experience as to what to expect.
I spent part of last night designing an irradiance meter to put up on the rack with the panels so I can record that with my other performance data. I wish I had the IRS and Protocol document for the HUB/MATE and I would make it plug and play. They don't seem to have that on the site at OUTBACK though.
I'll check out the shade tree stuff. I have a feeling the benefits are very real, just a little slow in coming.
