The difference is that Nanosolar has actually published their cost/watt figure target - I don't see Evergreen stating those kinds of cost numbers - if you've a link I'd like to see it.

I warned you before not to get your short term low cost expectations up. Until the global supply dearth has been rectified will the status quo big manufacturers feel the cost pressure from the Evergreen and Nano guys (unless they're more altruistic than I give them credit for).

I agree with loobosh being I work for a major corp and know how we do business and the fact that I do a lot of exports and imports. If we can make it cheaper we will tell you we found a new improved way and it is better now and then tell you how much more we are going to charge you for the improvements. Cut cost and charge more if we can. It is greed, how much money does a person need? If Bill Gates made 10 Million more this year than last year would he even notice the increase. I don't think he could notice if he made a billion more every year for the next ten years. Then if it is an import you will have to pay heavy duties / tariffs if you are priced too low.. so out siders are forced to increase prices when importing in to the USA. So we make it in China for almost nothing and bring it back and make a hell of a lot more. Sure am glad someone is regulating this stuff .. lol too funny..

I have followed the nanosolar releases for some time now. The latest says they plan a full release for commercial installations in 2007 and that they are now in endurance testing. No idea when us individuals will be able to get our hands on the stuff.
First Solar of Ohio has a new and cheaper way to make panels. They are listed on eBay for around $3/Watt, not a lot cheaper. They have NO plans to sell but through full distribution channels, so their saving are probably really in volume and in no in-house support.
I, as most of us, are tired of hearing the hype. We just would like to get a reasonably priced PV system up and running without compromising our household budget.

Never mind the First Solar panels on eBay. They have no warrantee. The seller some how got them through distribution, but First Solar will not warrant them. The seller guarantees them to be new, but can not possibly cover failures. Not a good cost with that constraint! Also, since no warrantee, no CA rebate (probably other states as well)!
