I have followed the nanosolar releases for some time now. The latest says they plan a full release for commercial installations in 2007 and that they are now in endurance testing. No idea when us individuals will be able to get our hands on the stuff.
First Solar of Ohio has a new and cheaper way to make panels. They are listed on eBay for around $3/Watt, not a lot cheaper. They have NO plans to sell but through full distribution channels, so their saving are probably really in volume and in no in-house support.
I, as most of us, are tired of hearing the hype. We just would like to get a reasonably priced PV system up and running without compromising our household budget.
